A novel way to 'peel' an Idaho Potato....or is that unpeel....

OMG!! You can peel 10 pounds of Idaho potatoes in the time it takes to boil the water.

Talk about a waste of resources: electricity/gas to bring the water to a boil and 15 minutes of cooking. Mary Ann should stick to Coconut Cream Pies!

I agree, but Dawn Wells has sure held up well! Maybe it's all the steam from this peeling method.

I've had a crush on her since I was 8. She's why I married a brunette, and...

...have always been attracted to brunettes.

I have no doubt.

REC: Mary Ann's Coconut Cream Pie Recipe

Mary Ann's Coconut Cream Pie

3 egg yolks
Dash of salt
3/4 cup sugar
3 cups milk
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup cornstarch

1 cup coconut
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 baked 9-inch pie shell
3 egg whites
Coconut for garnish

In the top of a double boiler over simmering water beat the egg yolks and salt. Add the sugar, milk, and butter. As soon as the bottom pot boils, mix the cornstarch with a small amount of water. Add it to the egg yolk mixture a little at a time. Cook until thick, stirring constantly with a wire whisk. Add the coconut and vanilla. Pour the filling into the baked pie shell. Beat the egg whites with a small amount of sugar and spread the meringue over the pie. Sprinkle coconut on top and toast in the oven. Makes 6 servings.

A convection cooktop will boil water in 30 seconds. Still got to wait that 15 minutes though...

and is the potato ready to eat at that point? Like for potato salad?

I think they make so much sense for mobile home travellers. Tried to convince

my SIL to get one to use outside for braising to keep the heat out and save space inside...in Arizona.

If I hadn't just bought a new countertop stove, I would definitely switch to induction.

And Michael, they are all over the place, ranging from $80 to $180.

Michael, Google "one burner portable induction cooktop" and you will find several listed. If

anyone has any advice on which is best, I would appreciate it, since I'd like to move my frying out of doors. Thanks!
