Here the birds get'm and they'd use shotguns to scare them away
Family friends had a cherry orchard and they'd have these shotguns set to go off randomly (for the boom factor only) up in the trees to scare the birds from eating the crop.
It would scare the begeebers outta me everytime one of them went off and we were outside playing.

..... if it serves of any consolation, our dalmatian goes after tomatoes, even while they are still green.
attacks each one of them, chews a little bit and then let the remains spread all over the yard.
