?? about cookware....

Stacking the grill plates helps some....but (more)

I'm using a pot that's already scorched a few meals, so it seems to make a mess faster than I can keep track of it sometimes.

Thank you! Vacaville is about...90 miles away. Not too far. (more)

I use my crockpots as often as possible for things, but when I make chili or pasta sauce, even simmering over very low heat, the pan tends to scorch. I'm thinking something much heavier, even if I hate the weight, is in order. I tend to cook BIG and freeze little bits. You folks have been wonderful! Thank you ALL!

That makes some sense...so a heavier grade cookware...

will help, along with stacking the grill plates and trying a diffuser (again). I've used one, but not even it solved the problem. Maybe I'm not stacking enough grill plates...it seems like my dad used to use 3...always wondered why...duh?

I think there are multiple facets to a solution here....

1) stack a number of grill plates and still
2) use a diffuser on a much
3) better grade pot, and if that doesn't solve it, it's time to buy
4) an electric roaster (which could still be a super idea since I live in N. Calif. where it gets bloody hot in the summer!), because now I know that
5) propane burns hotter than natural gas!

You folks are the best! In the vernacular of today's youth,
YOU ROCK!!!

Glennis...

90 miles from Vacaville? Call the shop then (707) 453-0620, there's one at the Gilroy outlets too, so perhaps they have more sprinkled throughout the greater area and could have one that's a shorter drive for you than 90 miles? This is perhaps the heaviest cookware on the market, so should suit your purpose just fine, but once loaded with food they are a bit of a chore to move to/from/on the stovetop.

Glennis, I'm sorry I didn't get back to you in time for your Sacramento visit, was away on vacation.

I'm also sorry to say I'm not familiar at all with Sacramento stores or shopping, even though I only live 2 hours away. I just don't seem to get up there much unless we're passing through to get to the mountains. Were you able to find some good stores to visit while you were there?
