ISO: Another request - ISO Hawaiian appetizers

In Search Of:
Ok, I get it now. Still, I think she wants to go with pineapples and coconut...) After all, they

will all be tourists and that's what they'll probably have on the ship. Thanks for your input and suggestions. I'll have to sneak one or two truly Hawaiian finger foods in there for her!

Go to any grocery store and look for a bag of Taro brand poi...

The poi is usually by the fresh seafood section, I think. Poi is delivered to the markets on certain days of the week, so they use different colored tags to tell you when it was delivered, like fresh bread. There's usually a chart to tell you which color corresponds to which day of the week.

It doesn't last very long, and the older it gets, it ferments and gets sour. Some people prefer it fresh, other prefer day-old or two-day-old poi.

Squeeze the bag into a bowl, and mix it with some water to thin it to the consistency you want. Some people add a little bit of sugar to it, others will scorn at the thought smileys/smile.gif

Hsve a great vacation - sounds like you'll have a lot of fun!

So helpful - thanks! I'm surprised it needs to be thinned... I thought it was supposedly to be thick
