Any decaf coffee drinkers here? I am considering going that route - but don't

like anything I've tried in the past.

I like dark (French or Italian roast and espresso), oily beans.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I've found I can tolerate 1/2 caf, but haven't found a decaf I really like by itself.

I decided to just drink a cup of tea instead of coffee in the afternoon if I want something. It doesn't seem to mess with my sleep like coffee does.

That is the one I enjoy also. I add a lil cinnamon. Also use Nespresso decaf Pods when it is just

for me. (They have a nice selection of decaf Pods that are quite good and dark roasted).

We really like the decaf Kona from Fresh Market

I have so many friends who can't tolerate caffeine, and this tastes like regular coffee to me. I have had many guests compliment the coffee, and be surprised it is decaf. It probably isn't dark enough for you, though.

My favorite experience was the guy who, on his second cup, started getting really wired, and bounced around telling me that it would be my fault that he wouldn't get any sleep that night.

I've thought about getting one of those single serve machines - is that what

you mean with the pods? I really liked the Keurig one my FIL has - it's very convenient.

Yup; the single serving things. It works for us. dh tends to gravitate to tea, I do a combination

Thanks barb - DH and I drink java in the morning, and tea in the late afternoon. Silly question -

I assume they also have tea pods? Which machine do you have, and do you like it?

I brew tea through the coffee maker - we use whatever is handy, loose or bags.

I actually make tea every day, the old fashioned way. I have a kettle, and use 2-3 bags. We seem

to both enjoy PJ Tips from england. I would not call it fancy, just something that we both enjoy. (I am not a fan of flavored teas).
Then throw it into a tea pot that I purchased from TXMax. Left overs go into my ice tea for the day.

(I do have my eye on the latest Breville tea pot, but can't rationalize. Have been watching ebay). Will be looking for it at upcoming garage sales!!!

Re: Coffee; I have the Nespresso brand one. We really like it. I have not tried any other pod brands with it. Do not know if they have tea pods.

DH used to use a teapot on the stove. I am lazy, and it seems the coffee maker is less work

though now that I think of it, it is probably the same.

The stove top teapot is better because the temp is proper for brewing tea.

We had an interesting conversation years ago with some of DH co-workers in England about brands of tea - one said the other's favorite of Twinings was made of the floor sweepings of their own favorite brand. LOL

do you have a local roaster? we have lots up here and they usually have very good selections.

I bought some local(Alaskan) Cafe Del Mundo Bremen Decaf #907 which is just wonderful. You can order online, but I don't know what the shipping is. Our Target carries this local roaster's beans and we can get the 12oz bags of certain blends like Captain Cook for 3.95/bag. great value. check your Targets for local offerings. if we have it, other areas must offer local as well. I have found that blends labeled "German roast" or "Stockholm" or other Euro names is generally darker and very flavorful. We have a friend who orders from Peets and swears by their product and freshness. He lives out in Dutch Harbor. I like Tulley products as well. We're serious about our coffee up here!

I'm sure we have a local roaster, that's a good idea. And I always forget about Peets, we have one

No Aldi's here, but thanks for the Target/German tip, I will definitely try those as well.

I use ground, and make it in my drip coffee maker - very strong. I keep

the grounds in an airtight container, and they stay fresh for a very long time, which is great for me, since I don't drink coffee that often. I also use the brewed espresso to add to my chocolate baked stuff.
