Any great but slightly different mojito recipes?

We always have a summer signature drink for our guests. Something we work on and perfect and then serve in addition to the usual beer and wine at our parties. One year it was Sangria, another it was this ginger lemonade/vodka thing, last year it was the lavendar/rose water mojito from the Girl and the Fig. Great drink. Total hassle to make.

LOVE mojitos (or is it mojitoes?) as they combine my two favorite flavors....mint and lime. Would be up for them being our drink again but want a little twist to it. Anyone have a great recipe that is slightly off beat?

Thanks

Kathleen

REC: Cucumber Mojito

I haven't made these but they sound really good.

Cucumber Mojitos

The classic Cuban cocktail receives a refreshing update with the addition of cucumber. For another tasty twist on the beverage, see our Peach Mojitos recipe.

2 cups cold water
1 cup coarsely chopped cucumber
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 large)
12 mint leaves
3/4 cup rum
1 cup sparkling water, chilled
1 cup crushed ice
4 mint sprigs
4 cucumber slices
4 lime wedges

1. Place 2 cups water and chopped cucumber in a blender; process until smooth. Strain cucumber mixture through a sieve into a medium bowl; discard solids.

2. Place 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 tablespoon lime juice, and 4 mint leaves in a 2-cup glass measure; crush with a wooden spoon. Add 3 tablespoons rum and about 1/2 cup cucumber mixture; stir until sugar dissolves. Stir in 1/4 cup sparkling water. Place 1/4 cup ice in a 12-ounce glass; pour cucumber mixture over ice. Garnish with 1 mint sprig, 1 cucumber slice, and 1 lime wedge. Repeat procedure with remaining ingredients. Serve immediately.

Yes! Been perfecting this for about a month now. It's now ready.

2 t. fruit sugar, shaken with 1 1/2 T. torn mint leaves and 1 oz of fresh lime juice. (The Jamie Oliver shaker thing works well for this. (Just remind your bartender to take out that ceramic ball before he pours all into your delicate crystal glass.)

Add 1 1/2 oz. vodka and shake again.

Pour into glass and add 2 ice

I leave the mint bits in the glass, but it really has to be the right mint. There is such a huge difference among mints.

I prefer short cocktails, so this works for me.

Thanks for the ideas

Wondering how blackberries would work instead of raspberries? Going to have to start trying these out next weekend.

I am doing some research on mint. I found a box one winter, rooted it, and it was the best I've had

Now I have to find out what variety it was and if I can find it again. The last one I bought, also rooted, within 6 weeks is a huge plant and I can't stand it. Tastes like grass.

Will let you know. OR send you a root.

Ah, yes, or baker's sugar! thanks so much! I may have one tonight..

Last night I had a Dark and Stormy, and that was mighty fine.

I bought some today at a nursery. But tasted it first. I guess that's the trick because it was just

what I was looking for and so much better than this other stuff. Sorry, though, it was probably the one plant in all 9000 that had no nametag.
