Any of you watch "The Next Food Network Star" and did you find it as boring as I did?

I found out yesterday Fine Living channel was changed to the Cooking channel, which is owned by the

Food TV network.

I don't watch the food network anymore. Now that I know the cooking channel is owned by the food tv network, I doubt I'll be watching that either.

I can't even get the Fine Living/Cooking channel here on the Time Warner basic package.

Meryl, we had Time Warner (local Brighthouse) we finally got Direct TV and I'm so much happier!

We didn't get fine living then either, but do on Direct TV.

TW wouldn't even let us see our own local PBS station....outrage.....it seemed more and more like we couldn't find anytning to watch!

Their customer service, though, was fantastic.

Hey Marsha, that's good to know. Is Direct TV about the same price as Time Warner? How is their

customer service?

I've been having problems lately with Time Warner - the picture and sound have been breaking up intermittently. A technician is coming by tomorrow - we'll see if he can solve the problem. It's probably a weak signal, which usually happens late at night. Of course, the picture and sound will be perfect when he checks in the afternoon, so what else is new?

We had Direct TV in San Diego and her in MO and love it.

One thing I like about it is they have a dvr recorder in their receiver box that lets you record shows so you can watch them when you want to, and without commercials. You also get East Coast and West Coast shows. It works great for us. We also get the NFL package so Bub can watch his beloved Vikes. Customer service has always been great, but we have never had to have them come out to our house, we were able to solve any issues over the phone.

Meryl, there is a nice savings our first year, but next year will be a little more. I've not had

experience with customer service yet. I have 2 friends who have Direct TV and they both love it. One has used customer service and she is very happy with them too.

We didn't need a recorder box like Dawn mentioned cause we're home all the time. We didn't buy any sports or movie package either.

We got the basic channels; some missing that we had with TW however, even with that we're still able to see more than we had with TW. With them it felt like were able to see less and less and so many reruns. Even with reruns on Direct TV we're still able to find some things of our taste that we've never seen before.

After our 2 year sign up is up I'm hopeful we can change to the next package up, to get some of the channels we used to have with TW.

One thing that's a little hard to adjust with; When there are big rain storms the satellite loses it's communication and while we're sitting there looking at a blank screen you wonder if you're going to be able to see your program. All the while the satellite is searching for it's link and it's usually not a very long time until you see your program again.
