Anyone acknowledging Earth Hour tomorrow evening?

We did, (Mobile, AL) although we cheated and watched "Night at the Museum" (fun film).

No near-by neighbors to visit with, and dinner was over before 8pm, but I've never seen my home lit only by candlelight before, and it was so pretty that I think I'll take Richard's advice and do it every week.

DS read aloud to us - Around The World In 80 Days. He is in adventurer mode, and has taken to

dressing as Indiana Jones. The fourth Indy movie is coming out this summer, so it has hit his radar through the Lego playset promotion.

So our lights out evening was hosted by Indiana with featuring special guest Phileas Fogg. smileys/smile.gif

May I suggest he read "Treasure Island" by Robert Louis Stevenson. What a fun read!

In fact, I had it unabridged on CD and will cut you a copy if you think that might encourage him.

We had to read Kidnapped in grade school and I didn't like it (same author, much more difficult language (he used a lot of colloquilisms). After listening to TI, I re-read it (in Large Print, these days) and absolutely loved it.

We sat out on the patio and grilled HN low-fat hotdogs (only 1 point!), had

salads, cheese and crackers. Candles lit the house and patio, log in the outdoor standing fireplace.

Wow, the stars were amazing...we traced a LEO satellite across the sky and watch Orion shift to the west from directly overhead.

well, the lights went out in the theater, but we were watching a rousing "Menopause the Musical"

Highly recommend this to ladies(and their gents) of a "certain" age. It scared the @$*& out of me though. LOL.

Funny you mentioned that, it is in the stack of books waiting to be enjoyed. DH bought some

"specially adapted" illustrated versions of classic books from Michael's - they are nice in that they are true to the story, but a bit more approachable. DS is 8 and an advanced reader, so they are perfect for him, and enjoyable to us as well.
