Anyone done this? Birthday coming up in 2 months and am thinking along the lines of a "Murder .....

I've been to one...had a BLAST! (more)

The one we attended was exceptionally well planned. It was put on by a B & B in the area, and the hosts had to rent the whole facility for the night. Everyone was assigned a character and came in costume and stayed in character throughout the evening. The birthday boy proved out to be the murderer, but we didn't find out until we were dining, and had cast our votes. I'd draft a couple of friends and make it as detailed as possible! It could be really unique night!

In the UK they do the same at some B & B's and also some .....

Train Dinner Rides offer the evening too. I have always wanted to go. So now I am keen to do one myself. Thanks for your input.

Check out the Food Timeline that Rosie posted at 9210.5.

That might be useful if your Murder Mystery takes place in a particular time period like the 1920s or 1950s. Then you could develop an authentic menu reflecting the period.

Some friends did one with a "Roaring Twenties" theme and it was very popular.

We wrote one up MANY years ago (BC-before computers!) but I can't find it. We tailored it to the ..

guests personalities. It was a PTA fund raiser event.

hi Joanie, we had xmas eve dinner at a B&B here and they serve family style. my hubby

wasn't feeling well and it was just our dear friends and me. because you are seated with people you don't know they give you a game to play. each person has to tell 3 things about themselves, 2 true and 1 lie. the goal is to figure out which statement isn't true.

at first I just groaned but it turned out to be great fun. everyone asked questions about your statements, like they were solving a mystery. it became very lively and we all got to know each other. we had so much fun with the canadian couple that we will be staying in contact and next year, we'll all cook at my house smileys/smile.gif

FYI - I won smileys/smile.gif

If you find it please post.

I found one that is set in a hore riding/betting scene and finger foods were served buffet style so that guests could mingle and ask questions...I am really thinking along these lines now, rather than a sit down meal. This is such fun.

it really is a great idea. even when you think you know so much about each other

you find there are things ya never knew. we had a blast with it!

Don had the offending tooth removed yesterday and is doing better. I could kill him myself for playing Russian Roulette with an abcessed tooth! I got him to the dentist as soon as I found out what was actually going on. thanks for asking.

Well, I saw it when we were looking through the Christmas stuff, but I don't remember where>>>>

The "crime" was using the school copy machine to counterfeit money. One of the characters was "Anna Conda" I don't remember too much else. I may even have tossed it. I'll take another look. I remember when we wrote it we gave clues that could point to several of the characters initially.

I did one of these, years ago--a 1920s-era murder mystery. Lots of fun, great costumes, great food!
