ARGHHH!: DH invited 4 for dinner next Sunday and promised beef.

Maybe add the tomatoes during the last 20 minutes of roasting the asparagus?

Seed-side up or down? I'd guess up so they evaporate and not ooze all over the asparagus ;o)

Lana I'm curious too~ Love Blackberries, we use to pick them in the woods

behind our house growing up~ Blackberry and raspberry thicket bushes were everywhere, mom use to make such good pies with them too.

Sadly, developers eventually came in and now they are a large housing development.

I think I'll make it too with blackberry~ another recipe on my Sunday dessert list.

I do too, these were in NJ, we also hade a mulberry tree in the backyard and mom

made pies too~ the squirrels liked them as did the blue jays. Believe it or not in NJ produce grows very well, I use to tend to the tomato plants and they did so well (being a kid I didn't do the greatest job but they thrived) and cucumbers too big huge cucumbers. Here in AZ our tomato's don't even fair nicely, but our ruby red grapefruit tree, lemon, and orange are over productive to the point we give them to anyone who wants them.

I miss the delicious tomato's, blackberry, and raspberry's of NJ.

The only time I picked my own raspberries was in NJ, & got spoiled forever.I miss good fruit-period.

You got that right, we were so fortunate as kids, a 50 acre woods behind our backyard, and a large

20 acre park with a petting zoo a half mile down the street, and across the street from our house was the JFK HS field and behind the HS was an Jr. High field. Ultra suburbia, but then the developers came in and most is all gone and it's not the same any more.

I can't remember - it was so long ago, at least 13 years ago. Was living in NY at the time. BTW I wa

BTW I was raised in NJ, but born in NY. Lived in Teaneck for many years - hated it there, for many reasons I won't go into, but the fruit and vegetables were great. Moved back to Manhattan when I was a very young adult and on my own.

My whole family was born in Brooklyn NY, except me ~ why I believe I rock though my siblings would

say something different hahaha, I do have a Brooklyn accent, even after 27 yrs in Phoenix, I still have it. In school they called me the New Yorker?? I mean really, NY was just a 20 minute train ride away, I went to NY many times growing up, in fact I still have family in Brooklyn and all around NY.

Another one smileys/smile.gif Do you still have your accent? I think Brooklyn has the best pizza's in the world !

Not too much of an accent, although people here in NC can tell I'm from NY smileys/smile.gif. I actually lived in

Bklyn till I was 5, then was moved to Teaneck - very, very sad day for me. I loved Bklyn.

Thanks to all of you. I copied many of the recipes .For an appy I'll either do the boursin

with endive (do you have a recipe, Michael or just wing it?) or a friend said she just did scallops, cut in half and sauteed in olive oil and butter. Leave at room temp. Top with creme fraiche, caviar and a sprig of chive.
Prime rib, Pat in NoCal's parmesan potatoes, roasted cherry tomatoes with asparagus and Traca's lemon cream- maybe in a tart shell with blueberries.

Thanks, again!

I just get the boursin with herbs from almost any grocery store then use the large red/orange caviar

I've had the same problem Meryl described, so maybe the vinegar is the

answer. I "think" I had them cooking low enough, but maybe not. I usually end up smothering them in some sort of sauce and using a crockpot, which DH really doesn't care for. So we rarely have pork, although I used to like it.

Mom's pan-fried are the best - still can taste them, although it's been years since she made them. Thanks Dianne.

I make pork chops often. I don't believe that it's the cooking method but...

the quality of the pork chop. Two excellent brands are Neiman Ranch and Berkshire. They are more money but I believe they are worth it.
