Sounds good! Here's my favorite recipe for black bean patties - you might want to check it out>>>

BLACK BEAN PATTIES WITH CILANTRO AND LIME

INGREDIENTS:

1 tablespoon olive oil (I used 2 Tbsp)
1 cup chopped onion (about 1 medium)
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper (I omitted this)
1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper (I used 1 cup)
1 tablespoon minced jalapeno pepper (I used 1/2-2/3 Tbsp)
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon salt (I used about 1/6 tsp)
2 cloves garlic -- minced (I used 3 large)
15 oz can black beans --UNDRAINED
1 1/2 cups dry breadcrumbs
1/4 cup yellow cornmeal
2 tablespoons fresh cilantro -- minced
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1/4 cup Monterey Jack cheese -- shredded (I usually use extra sharp cheddar)
Vegetable cooking spray
2/3 cup salsa (I omitted this - see note below)*

DIRECTIONS:

Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and next 8 ingredients (onion through garlic); sauté 3 minutes or until onion is tender. Add beans; sauté 1 minute.

Combine bean mixture, breadcrumbs, cornmeal, cilantro, and lime juice in a large bowl; stir well.

Place 1 cup bean mixture in a food processor, and process until smooth. Add pureed bean mixture and cheese to remaining bean mixture; stir well.

Divide mixture into 5 -10 equal portions, (I divided into 6 equal portions), shaping each into 3-inch patty.

Wipe skillet clean with paper towels. Coat skillet with cooking spray, (I used two nonstick skillets with 1 tsp oil in each one), and place over medium-high heat until hot. Add patties, and cook 3 minutes (total) or until browned, turning patties carefully after 1-1/2 minutes.

Serving Ideas : Serve with salsa.
*(Note: I served this with a yogurt dip, along with chopped red onion and chopped tomatoes on the side. Yogurt Dip: 1 cup nonfat plain yogurt, 1/4+ cup chopped cilantro, 1 tsp ground cumin, and several drops of Cajun hot sauce (to taste).

I'm going to love this recipe, thanks for posting. We have an

almost twelve year old granddaughter who at eight years old, decided she was not going to eat anything with a face. Our family is such big meat eaters and this freaks me out. Since I have been cutting back on meat, simply for healthier eating, this is a great recipe to add to my list.

Aw, that's kind, O. But I'm fine. It just kills me that I live in a hot state and can't get cheap

citrus. I'll check the oriental store tomorrow and maybe a hispanic one if I go home on a longer route (because who doesn't want to ADD to 120 mile commute).

That's about what they cost here but meat is so much higher than in the ad for the store you linked

Hard to believe the difference in citrus prices here from in Florida. Oranges have been so cheap all winter and I buy the best avocados for around 60 cents each unless they're on sale for less. Cilantro is always 28 cents a bunch which is cheaper than I can grow it. However, as I said meat prices are through the roof and that's for select grade. The major grocery chain here and when I say major, read only except for Target and Walmart, carries very little choice grade beef.

Thanks for the review, I can think of only one recipe I've been disappointed with from FC. And that

was my taste more than a fault with the recipe.

I was going to suggest that you check an asian market. There

is a large one just next door to Doris and they usually are even cheaper. I had told John about what Michael in Phoenix told us about the cartels taking over the lime production and we expected them to be going up. John said when he got home with them that Doris must have found some trees that the cartel didn't have control of. ;0)

I check their add every week and take advantage of any sales.

Plus they are excellent butchers so if I want something in particular I can get it there. There aren't many around anymore.

I have a similar experience...

... in fact a few weeks ago I made one recipe that did not turn out good, but without going into too much detail, it was "operator's error"

one of those improvisations that I should have known better NOT to do
