Bright and early Saturday Six

Maybe it would sell better if they called it "Honey, the oven's not working today--can we go out?"

feature. Of course, you'd have to reset the day fairly often.

Yes, Joanie, wonderful news! Forget diet drinks. I've lost quite a few pounds lately,,,

just by writing down everything I eat in a diary.

No self-punishment or reckoning, just a better awareness of what goes in my mouth. It's amazing how reassuring I find it--like eating it twice because I wrote it down.

LIke you, I always want to try new recipes, and always will; it's all about proportions. Salad still justifies everything.

Oh don't tempt me!!!! I could use a bit of fun and lovely company! smileys/bigsmile.gif

You are so sweet Joannie. At the very leaset I could do the washing up and perhaps fish. (((hug)))

The class was great, it was today. I learned a lot!

I didn't know how easy bacon making is. There's the dry cure in a zippy bag for a week or so, then 30 minutes of smoking. I'm going to use my friends gas grill for the smoking unless I get creative in Golden Gate Park with my camping stove and my wok. They even coverd sausage making and that was quite interesting. I've saved your recipes for sausages from years ago, have always been meaning to try them. I think I'll pass on air curing the pork jowl because I can't swing a wine fridge right now so I'll male it like bacon and it will be great!

I may write up my bacon filled day for the blog!

Delivered, worked a while, then top went, and then oven went. Returning, so

I'm back to square one. Changed my mind about the smoothtop anyway - it limits you so much I think.

You didn't like the smoothtop?

I cooked on a friend's several times now and was suprised how much I liked it.

And I hear ya about small burners not up front. What gives with that? I was looking at stoves recently and so many had both of the small burners in the back so you'd need to reach over a big pan of hot w/e to get to it. Whoever thinks this stuff up is doin' it wrong IMHO.

Let us know how it goes. Good luck!

At the GE site, it says that you can't even do time back on that day. I think

that must be how it works(?), seeing that only the really expensive ones have delayed bake time setting.

And a P.S. about smoothtops

I've read so much on stoves lately. And have decidde on coil now. Breakdown was a blessing in disguise, I am able to change it. The coil ones were the only ones that had the functions I wanted and didn't have super-large front burners (I wouldn't like that). The saleswoman told me that you can't use Teflon or cast iron on the smoothtops, and you can't shake, as you have to when making omelets, so I opted out of the smoothtops for all of those reasons.

Ooh, I do hope you try the Chicken Chile Sausage. OMG. My mouth is watering already...must make a

stash!

You know what else is super easy? Lox. My friend cured a side of salmon for a brunch in December. So delicious and crazy easy. I shared the recipe with her and we all munched on fabulous salmon, astonished how easy it was.
