Can we have a rhubarb thread? One of my gardeners finally located a strain of rhubarb

Love it! I feel apart of your garden family, and sense of pride through our eat.at involvement

with the voting a few years ago. Great clip! You should be so proud!!!

Ang, how is your garden coming along? I had such garden envy when you posted pics of the cinder

block setting you created. I loved it! Can you post updated photos? It is gardening time here, and I need to think through if I am going to do beds this year.

Yes, I am still grateful to all of you whose daily voting helped us win that contest!

Technically, it was not for this garden location (we have 9) but it's all for the same organization. The garden you helped raised funds for has been running for 3 years now and has a 2-year waiting list.

we haven't uncovered it yet from the winter--still a bit cold. but DH will work on getting it ready

this weekend. Will post pics as we progress. He has some tomato starts and a pepper start and some seed potatoes and we're trying horseradish, but nothing can be planted outside yet. He added some composted horse manure last fall and wants to mix in some sand to the soil now. We'll buy vegetable plants this year like cabbage and broccoli and that cool spikey looking cauliflower since our remodel is taking up so much time this Spring(but it's almost finished!) and we didn't get the greenhouse ready for early planting, but we will put our tomatoes in there and other more "delicate" plants to grow all summer.

Look forward to the pics! Horseradish is an interesting one. I would have thought that it would

impart its flavor to other veggies. (Not necessarily a bad thing), but strong flavor. My frame of reference is a friend that did garlic, and the soil eventually took on a garlic scent.

Have fun this weekend, look forward to an update!!!

Yes, great video! Question, Joe - I've tried to grow lettuce (romaine) for 2 years

Different seeds (all organic), different soil (also organic), and the outside leaves are always too bitter to eat. We can only eat the inner 1/3rd. Are we doing something wrong?
Thanks smileys/smile.gif
