Can you recommend a meat grinder and sausage stuffer?

I was going to buy the KitchenAid addition, but the reviews made me nervous. We have started making South African boerewors (farmer sausage) because it's hard to find, and very expensive. We made it recently, using ground meat and cooking it as patties, It was very good, and half the price we pay at the International Store, but we mixed in it the mixer, and of course the texture was wrong. We'd also prefer to cook it as sausages.

All the Amazon reviews have a few that mention metal pieces in the meat. Is there a good meat grinder out there? I can't pay a fortune, as we only have one salary coming in at the moment, but it's definitely something we would use.

I've had the KA meat grinder and sausage stuffer attachments for years, Lana

I have used them hard and they hold up just fine. I would definitely buy them again if mine finally gave up. One session friends and I made 100 lbs of different varieties of sausages which was pushing the KA pretty hard and it all turned out great. Just used the grinder attachment last week to grind lamb for lamb burgers.

I second Cathy's recommendation.

I have both and have used them numerous times to make batches of sausages.

Our batches never quite to the 100# mark, but we usually did 20 to 25# runs.

Glad to hear the endorsements. My eldest has the attachment package under...

...the Christmas tree with his name on it.

He will definitely work them hard!

I will have to say that I think there is a difference in the grinder attachments for KAs in the last

number of years.
Mine was all metal with metal worm and metal blade. I think they are now plastic casing and a stainless blade. They can work fine I'm sure.
In searching I had not seen these which much more resemble what I have had for many years.

Thank you for the information. It looks as though it's a good buy.

I am concerned about current attachments not being as well made as the older ones, but it does sound as though I should go for the brand name product. Thanks very much for all the help.
