I was asked to teach a DIY class at the library and chose cake pops because once you've been traumatized by those little buggers, you want others to share the pain.
When I explained your requirement to make cake pops for 400 ladies and then showed the trick, there was an actual "ooh!!" from my students AND the librarian moderating the event.
Unfortunately, that was the smoothest thing that happened during that class, but it ended without anyone actually bleeding (although many went home with candy coating stains).
Recommendation: As much as I hate Wilton candy coating, I did buy TWO of their Candy Melting Pots and was quite pleased with the result. I was worried that melting the quantity of coating needed for 14 people using a microwave (reheating multiple times) would take too much time. This device comes with two silicon inserts that nest into the heating base: one is split (so you can melt two different color candy melts at the same time and the other takes a single melt color. The base has a melting state and a stand-by state, which was a blessing for 12 women jocking for space to dip their cake balls. I got them at Michael's with 40% coupon (around $25) --which is basically the same regular price from Walmart. However, Walmart had two user comments that said the device did not heat properly. Both of the Michael's versions worked fine.
