Paella and garlic bread (yup, we're odd)
REC: Crispy Crunchy Garlic Bread
1 loaf bread, unsliced - French or sourdough
1/3 cp. butter
3 cloves garlic (baked is best - see below)
Preheat oven to 500 deg. Mix butter with finely minced (or baked) garlic. Cut bread into thick slices and lay on cookie sheet. Bake in oven until beginning to brown. Remove from oven and spread with garlic butter. Return bread to oven, turn to broil and check bread every couple of minutes until butter is bubbly and it is as browned as you like.
Roasted Garlic
Cut a slice off top of 1 whole head garlic, to expose the cloves. Put the head on a square of foil. Drizzle with a little olive oil. Wrap tightly and place in oven or toaster oven on 400 deg. for about 25 min. You’ll know it is done when you can sqeeze the sides of the foil and it is soft. To keep the garlic for future use, squeeze the garlic cloves into a jar with a little olive oil.
