Crockpots: do I need one? How often/how do you use yours? Recommend one?

I use my crockpot all the time. It's my go to appliance.

I have 3, in various sizes. The trick is to brown meats and veggies before putting them in, that way they don't taste boiled.

Besides soups and stews I do whole turkey breasts (nothing but salt, pepper, garlic and a tablespoon of balsamic)
Burrito filling.
Chicken Adobo (Filipino style).
Pulled pork.
Lasagna and baked ziti.
Corned Beef.
Sloppy joes.
Guinea grinder filling.

And my latest is apple sauce. No added sugar and it tastes like apple pie filling when it's done.

More info on the turkey breast please.

I make one per year to use in a turkey salad sandwiches. I have poached, use an oven bag, and roasted traditionally. I'd like to try the slow-cooker. Do you brown it? Do you put liquid or aromatics in the pot? Thanks.

I don't. I put it in the slow cooker

I add salt, pepper, whole garlic cloves and a tablespoon or two of balsamic. That's it. No other liquids. You can add herbs if you want. I put it on low and, as long as it's completely defrosted, about 5-6 hours later it's done. Plenty of cooking juices in there when it's done, as well.
