Dinner from Trader Joe's last night. This was such a nice combination I have to write it down.

Jacques made dinner with frozen seafood mix, bottled sauce, and pasta, and it tasted like an expensive restaurant dish. So I quizzed him this morning and the best I can reconstruct it is this:

Take a frozen package of Trader Joe's "Seafood Blend" (shrimp, calimari and bay scallops) and toss it in a very hot iron skillet until it defrosts and exudes its water. Drain. Saute onion and garlic in another skillet, and add the seafood to brown a little.

Add a jar of "Trader Giotto's Three Cheese Pomodoro Pasta Sauce" and heat through

Boil a pound of Trader Joe's Italian Penne Rigate. Toss with the sauce.

Serve with grated cheese and parsley.

(We had some peas from the garden which we he boiled with the pasta, but there weren't enough of them to make an impact.)

I'm going to be sure to have these products on hand.

Perfect TJ post timing, Joe, I had wanted to thank you for the Trader's tip

for the all butter puff pastry in the above post for the asparagus tart. I used the TJ puff pastry for the first time (based on your glowing review smileys/smile.gif for the tart, and you were right Joe, it was excellent!

Thanks!
M

Thanks Mo. Funny, at a party I catered, we used that puff pastry to make "Upscale Pig in a Blanket"

Kielbasa slices wrapped in wedges of the pastry and baked until crispy, then served with Dijon mustard. I got the idea from "Queer Eye for the Staight Guy." (Cut one sheet of dough in half, each half crosswise into 6 rectangles, then each rectangle into 2 triangles. Cut a whole kielbasa into 24 oval slices. Wrap. Voila.)

It was such a hit and the guests were a little displeased when we ran out. I had all these other hors d'oeuvres that were so much more work. I could have saved a lot of time by making more "piggies" and less of everything else.

ROFL! reminds me of every party I have where that darn onion dip is the first thing to go

after I slaved over other great appys and snacks.
Argh!!!

Is this a "Sandra Lee Lifestyle Choice "confession prior to the "yougottabekiddingme" intervention?

Joe, Joe, Joe. We hardly knew ye!

Thanks Joe - I love meals like this - easy and delicious.

I like to make Middle Eastern "calzones", using ground turkey, simmer sauce, wrapped in a pastry pocket of whole-wheat pizza dough - all from TJs.

Sometimes the champeen chef gets too tired to cook. But I looked great in my Sandra Lee drag.

Why would you want to get it out of your mind's eye? I'm actually more Paula Dean.....

.....'s husband. The bearded guy.

But I can dream.

Don't tell Steve, but I made amazing enchiladas tonight with Trader Joe's Enchilada Sauce.....

Don't tell Martha that I did not make my own tortillas.

Don't tell Sandra that I grated my own cheese.
