Dinnerparty dilemma. Remember my friend with all the diet restrictions?

When younger DD was explaining her reason for becoming a vegetarian

she said that she wasn't objecting to eating flesh per se, but to factory farming methods. She said she would be perfectly happy to eat Soylent green. I remarked that it would be free range after all, and my whole family collapsed in laughter. I didn't actually mean to be funny.

Yes, I'll probably have to buy it for DD, who will love it.

And I'm being good about the seafood today. I'm not even making the smoked fish spirals that another seafood-hating friend loved when she ate them unknowingly at a party.

Hedwig was quite bizarre, but amazing. I was a little disappointed in the music, but the acting and the sets, costumes and filming were really good.

I thought Amelie was just beautiful. But I know I have read a book or seen a film with the same conceit of sending a gnome around the world and mailing back photos. I distinctly remember it going to Nome, Alaska. It is driving me nuts that I cannot remember where I read it.

Joe, what are you doing again for his 60th? A friend of mine is having her mom and sister

fly in this weekend to NYC to celebrate her 70th. She had a cute idea of 70 things to do in the city. Silly as take a taxi cab; Say "I love NY" to a concierge, go to a broadway play, take a picture of xxx. Get a pretzel from the street. See a runner in the park. You get it. Kind of a scavengere hunt; but a fun weekend project to celebrate her birthday. LOTS of picures will be taken!

I thought it was a cleaver idea.

Happy B-day to Jacques!
