Do cooks still watch the Food Network?

I love me too, and I will settle for NOTHING less than a&!@ole.

Knucklehead my foot! I get tired of being patronized, you know.

My husband has discovered the cooking channels. Now he watches and yells at me to

"come see what they're making" when it's something he wants me to make for him. Pretty funny.

I like the Cooking Channel too--especially Kelsey's Essentials. Wish she was around when I first

started learning how to cook.

I don't like to watch Triple D because the portion sizes are gross. The message of "less is

more" needs to get out there. Often one dish could feed a family of 4.

I am not sure I am a "cook" but I do not like FN. To me it is so commericalized,

sorta like music bands today, a chef is built to fill a niche, not because they are talented at what they do. I much prefer the PBS cooking shows and which they would show them more often. Seems like all the ones I enjoy disappear. So much for my taste in good shows....

I like Joanne Weir, Ming Tsi, Bobby Flay when he cooks with a regular person on the outdoor studio, Jaques Pepin (WITHOUT Claudine),Molly Katzen was on eons ago, I like a lot of Giada's recipes but can't watch her, it's more like a glamour show...

Add me to the list, I stopped watching years ago as well, for me...

they became less about good food, technique, and exploring cuisines than about appealling to the masses with food as "entertainment" and a "spectator sport." Some of their programming is frankly grotesque.

I have the old Julia Child 1st and 2nd series on DVD. When I want to watch a cooking show, I pull those out.

That is sooo cute! dh and I often go out for breakfast on the weekend. dh brings his paper, I

bring a cookbook. We often switch. I read the paper and he earmarks or notes some fun sounding recipes. I now carry post its with me so he can be mark them. I can always tell when he is hungary, because their are more post-its! : )

Not much anymore! I really dislike all of those competition shows. I love to watch..

cooks who teach me something new. Either a different combination of flavors or a new technique.
