Does anyone else have neurotic tendancies? And if so, what.

Not many

No matter who cooks, my husband cleans the kitchen and he hates it if I put dishes in the dishwasher. He always has to rearrange them. He has many neurotic tendencies. My only real problem is when people get in my way while I’m driving. It’s my road and everyone else needs to get off or out of my way! Oh, and I need to have all the knife blades turned in the same direction in the drawer. And hate having a knife dropped in the soppy dishwater. and no pot handles sticking out from the stove. and have to wash and fold my own laundry. I'll stop now.

I actually just pretty much go with the flow...BUT, dh must use only a certain set of forks/spoons

cracks me up (I have gotton over being frustrated); because they are sooo old, and honestly many of them have ended up in the garbage pail (by accident...seriously).... so, he is down to the wire on his forks.

He also only likes a certain sponge. So kind of him to do the dishes, but I made the mistake during thanksgiving of purchasing one that was on sale....Was not dh's favorite.

And, I have a good friend that feels a need to arrange all of the shoes in the foyer together in the same direction. (We are generally, no shoe homes....BYOS (Bring your own Socks / Slippers))... That always makes me laugh, because she does it other peoples homes! I can always tell when I arrive if my friend M has arrived!

Oh! And my FIL! I remember a few years ago, we had dinner there, and I realized as I was

doing their dishes that I must have left one of my plates there from a previous dinner. I mentioned to my MIL that I found my missing plate! (I only have a small set, and they are used for outdoors.... Not at all expensive, in fact they are plastic; but have had them for years, and have been missing one)

YOU SHOULD have seen her look of horror when I told her. She said that the plate (mine) was the only one that FIL was eating off of and that he will be very upset. ((Can you believe!!)) SO, I decided to buy my FIL a set of plastic plates for christmas that year, and brought home mine!

Everyone has their qwerks!

I think mine is more of a timing thing... I back into the times when things need to occur. ie if

we are going to church for early service then we need to be up at 7:09; coffee on at x time; in car at x time; etc... You get it. The funny thing is that I have odd times that are important. ie news off in the am at 8:13. I have no idea where I came up with that.... Fortunately, dh has learned to just smile....

Did I just mention earlier that I just go with the flow!!! : )

With you!--I must have a particular shape, diamater, depth. . .

All involved in making it easier to measure my half-and-half (ONLY half-and-half or whole milk), sugar and to help keep it at the temperature I like. Usually they are on the smaller capacity side and the walls of the cups are either *very* thick (think "Desertware") or on the thin side of medium--not fine china thin. I must pre-heat the cup, and the coffee is, around our house, french-press and very strong.

I like a thinner, though not fine china thin, bowl-shaped cup for my tea!

I am irritated when someone else loads the dishes and . . .

they tell me they are done ("It's full Mama!) . Then I go and look and there is still a half-sink full of dirty and I *finish* loading and can usually get them all in AND they all come clean . . .

Of course you have to do the glasses first--in clean, hot, soapy water; this is a LAW: . . .

HOw can you get clean glasses, beautiful, sparkling, clean glasses in water that is dirty?

Isn't this obvious that this MUST be THE LAW?

Ha! When I'm at my sisters house, I sometimes do it wrong just to rattle my BIL's chain ....heehee

Glad to see you're the most normal one smileys/smile.gif Oh, and my hubby would agree on the road one!

I hate it when I'm doing dishes and Mr. Soup hovers nearby and then REARRANGES the way I've loaded.

This usually causes me to walk away and let him do it. Fine by me.

He's way more neurotic than I am. smileys/smile.gif

My son's professor at college teaches his students a unique way to be "on time".

He' learning technical theater (lighting, sound, etc.). His professor says, "If you're 15 minutes early, you are "on time". If you are "on time", you are late. If you are late, you are fired."

I have to have certain ingredients from certain sources no matter how much time or gas I waste

Dairy products have to be from TJ's. Chickens too. For other meat its Costco or bust. And why buy a bag of lentils at the supermarket when you can spend more to buy them in bulk at Lazy Acres or Whole Foods, several miles away? I will drive miles to pick fresh herbs at one of the gardens I manage rather than use dried or (gasp!) pick up a pack while I'm at the market.

No wonder I hate shopping so much--I turn it into an ordeal.
