Folks, I've written about this book before but I just made three more recipes. I swear, this book is going to make me a legend among my friends! I gave my friend 1/2 of the Chocolate Walnut torte. She froze it, thawed it for a dinner party. A little whipped cream and voila. Delish. And the ice cream recipes...yum.

I love the mix of recipes. Cakes, breads, ice creams, etc. Nice variety. I've tried 15+ recipes and they've all exceeded my expectations.

Ditto! I love the Zucchini-Olive Oil Cake with Lemon Crunch Glaze and the Chestnut Spice Cake and

the Honey and Pine Nut Tart on the cover. The Lemony Semolina Cookies are great, but the Polenta and Sesame Biscotti I found were just weird (although we did eat them all nonetheless).

Reminds me of that song: Hey Mombo, Dolce Italiano..." oh, wait... Wrong lyrics, tee hee

But seriously, it sounds wonderful!!

Rosemary Clooney! One of the best soundtracks ever, Ahh, I've come so close to making the timpano...

but I always chicken out and make cassoulet.

LOL! Still kicking myself for not heading your way for cassoulet. smileys/smile.gif Timpano, the next frontier?

Made the cranberry tart yesterday (actually took 4 days--long story). Partner loves it but

I thought the filling was far too sweet--more corn syrup flavor and texture than cranberry.

did you find the crust was rather thick if you follow her measurements? Maybe it should be, because it's fragile.

I agree, I thought the filling was too sweet but others thought it was spot on. I'd reduce the sugar

next time. Sorry I forgot to mention that. My cranberries popped but still had some tooth to them (you could detect actual cranberry chunks).

I found the crust very easy to work with and have made it a number of times. Hmmm...
