I was disappointed in Shirley's character a bit...
I agree, "flat" is the word. She is missing the light mischief of her brilliant performances of yore.It is like she is two dimensional instead of three. I liked the "let me call you sweetheart" bit, though. Sweet Maggie Smith! I read somewhere that that scene was Shirley's idea.
Also, the sub-plot of the shirts. Maybe they cut a scene that would have better completed the prank. I never got why the oven was causing such problems -- actually thought it was just to allow the change in the party's character. Maybe I dozed a bit and missed something.
