Downton Abby tonight! Anyone else is excited? Anyone making food to go with?

I was disappointed in Shirley's character a bit...

I agree, "flat" is the word. She is missing the light mischief of her brilliant performances of yore.It is like she is two dimensional instead of three. I liked the "let me call you sweetheart" bit, though. Sweet Maggie Smith! I read somewhere that that scene was Shirley's idea.

Also, the sub-plot of the shirts. Maybe they cut a scene that would have better completed the prank. I never got why the oven was causing such problems -- actually thought it was just to allow the change in the party's character. Maybe I dozed a bit and missed something.

Yeah! Why weren't we invited to the reception?

Yes, I really liked the one-hour special before it, too, the tour of the castle and grounds.

One of the scenes - the road going up to Earl No. 1's hilltop grave - felt strangely familiar, although I've never been to England. All grandparents were, however! Hmm. Deja-vu.

Interesting to know that Highclere was used as a hospital after the war, just like Downton.

Me too! Whatever became of the guy that was supposedly Patrick who was injured in the

war and showed up at Downton? Was that a hoax? I must've missed that, last season.
