Elegant Comfort

LOL, What a great idea...

Traca, not only the bacon wrapped pork belly, but the "theme". Reminds me of that recipe for "Heart Attack Vanilla Ice Cream" that was all the rage about 10 years ago. It had a dozen eggs, quart of cream, stick of butter...can't remember all of it. Anyone still have that? Summer's coming on. LOL.

I didn't like the quick bread in it either. It just didn't rise well and

I missed the brown edges too.

This sounds so intriguing,,,secret location..."suggested" donation. It makes me

want to approach my wine expert friend about doing something like this, especially since we do it for our friends for free all the time. I'm sure it's important to operate as a private non-profit club for legal reasons.

The menus sound wonderful.

YAY! That sounds awesome. It's a great way to entertain and still

deflect the cost. Plus, depending on how you structure it, it's fun to see who else comes.

I like the price point for these dinners too. There's another underground restaurant in Seattle that charges much more ($100-150-ish). They have a big issue with cancellations and finally had to institute something about that. When you spend all week cooking, the guest list is tight, and a party of 4 no-shows, it can eat up any surplus revenues. You may not have that problem, but it's something to think about.

On the link, check out the "Come to Dinner" and from there, "Apply" for some other ideas on how things could be structured. (Memberships, etc.)

The past menues are fun to take a look at too.

Wow, I feel like I've joined a secret society just by reading this.

What a fun concept.

Everyone lives in fear of the health department, don't they? It's not that they don't serve a purpose, but here in L.A. County restaurants and given a grade that they must post in the window. Every single McDonald's gets an "A." What does that tell you?

Yowza. Here they put the health department records available on the internet.

I quit looking when my favorite Vietnamese place scored off the charts...or rather, just below being shut down.
