Ever done a chocolate tasting? Any ideas? I'm thinking that or wine tasting along with cooking event

I figured all of Fran's dark and milk chocolate, not filling, was pretty much on the same level. Am

I wrong?
I agree with you about having varying preferences with each chocolatier's products. A perfect example is Chocovic - I LOVE their Guaranda 71%, but absolutely HATE their Ocumare 71%! Another example is Dagoba - love their Xocolatl - hate their Conacado. Lots more examples, of course.

I'll be interested to hear your opinion on the Rechuitti chocolate. I miss picking it up

when we went to the Ferry Plaza. smileys/frown.gif

Love, love, love Michael. Met him on tour for his book & again at IACP. Lovely man. Funny too!

Well, guess what - the tasting is on and ... I'm leading it!!! *gulp*

Yes, the girl who can't eat chocolate talked herself into leading this tasting with our executive team no less (so I'm a bit nervous!). Your information is simply invaluable!

I'll stage the dinner set-up, I hired chef & team to lead us through team cooking event, then I'll wrap the evening leading the chocolate tasting.

Now I need to read-up on how to do this and find a source to get some of this good chocolate everyone is talking about!

Let me know if you have any favorite online sources -- I could run up to San Francisco if really needed and you know a source, but online is a girl's best friend. smileys/smile.gif

I love chocosphere - Great selection and excellent customer service. A little higher-priced than

some of the other online sources, though.

www.chocosphere.com

Although, their shipping prices are a little higher than chocosphere, so it may all equal out.

this would be a good thread to place in T&T threads and then Maria could update there. great info.

How marvelous! Here's another source of two: Foodzie.com and

Kakawa Chocolate Shop in Santa Fe. The guy who own / runs it is a chocolate historian. I buy 100% cacao bars from them, it's amazing the differences in flavor based upon the origin of the beans! They probably would be a good resource.

The gals at Foodzie are amazing, they source local artisans of all kinds of food stuffs, I haven't drooled over their web site lately but when I have in the past they had amazing stuff. Again, I bet they could be a good resource.

Finally, in February I posted about the Chocolate Salon at Fort Mason, bet there are more local / unusual chocolatieres there. Everyone sold things online. I will try to find that post for you.

Also, Traca introduced me to Claudio Corralo chocolates in Seattle. Amazing stuff!!!

Finally, I now know the marketing manager at Scharffen Berger, I met her at BlogHer Food and she's the one who sent me chocolates as part of their chocolate contest. I can give you her contact info, you could order some Scharffen Berger, they come in various cacao levels and who knows, maybe you could ask for sponsors!!

Hope this helps...
