Fluffy quiche?

My mom wouldn't share her poppyseed loaf recipe and I swear when she finally gave it to us she left

an ingredient out - LOL:)

Sounds like my grandmother Mar...

She was renowned for her old-fashioned layer cakes, Blackberry Jam, Carrot, German Chocolate, Red Velvet, etc. She would bake them to donate for charity raffles and then people started asking her to make and sell them. She was flattered, and Ohmigosh, she charged a whopping $7 for these cakes (this was the 70-80's). I kept telling her she needed to raise the price (you can imagine how many cake requests she was getting at that price). I finally totaled up all her ingredients and showed her she was going in the hole on each one. She raised it to $10 (to break even). Grandma, grandma, grandma, that's not how it works. She nearly had the vapors and fainted when I suggested a starting price of $25.

Fluffy Quiche sounds like a failure to me...

and that they left out the cream and overbeat the eggs to create a soufflé like imposter?

Quiche made the right way should never be fluffy.

I don't understand it either, but someone once told me she wouldn't share a recipe for whatever

because she considered it her specialty and didn't want anyone else in her group of friends serving it. That was in the days before the internet and Google made it easy to find recipes.

I won't give out my mom's chocolate pie recipe...

Partly because a friend we grew-up with put it in a cookbook of hers she published without asking. A few other of our family recipes too, but that one really stung.

This was our family's special birthday cake every year we all loved and begged mom to make it. The great thing was she .... got a couple things wrong so I felt a bit better. After that, I don't give it out onaccounta because. Everything else I will share, but that.
