Janet me too, can't get an even chop at all..

I gave up on that years ago, plus I wasn't gong to drag the big one out for that (but same problem with mini FP). I've wondered if it might've worked better in a med size FP rather than the big 14 cup one I have, don't know though. Finally I got close with the VM. It has you chop onions with water in the container and that almost works. Mostly I just chop things by hand though, unless it's a big batch of something. If I already have to chop something up to fit in a FP or whatever, I might as well just do the whole thing by hand.

Hi Halyna, I was given a Cuisinart as a wedding gift and it sat in the box for 6 months

because that puppy scared me. Fortunately, I happened through a department store where they were demonstrating the same model. There was no one there and I asked a few questions. The kind and generous demonstrator spent 30 minutes showing me how it worked. I tried to explain that i wasn't buying anything, but she said demonstrating to anyone helped pull in traffic so she was happy to do it.

By the end of her lesson I felt more confident that I wouldn't amputate my hand.

This was 30 years ago and this model isn't made anymore. But it has been a workhorse for me.

I just used it today to make oatmeal cheddar cookie dough (used the grater blade for the cheddar, changed out to the basic blade to chop the dried apricots and flour mix, added the milk/egg and it was mixed in less than 60 seconds.

Then I used it to chop roasted hazelnuts.

It makes PERFECT whipped cream.

Good luck with whichever model you pick.
And welcome!!!! Please share your favorite recipe.

Me too! Got mine for X-mas. Didn't touch it for 6 months. Fortunately it came with a user video!

These days there so much good content in You Tube, you can find practically anything. Such a great resource.

I have the Cuisinart DLC7E, the big one, and because I've washed the bowl in the DW, it no longer

locks on properly. I have to hold it in place while I pulse it. So I can no longer feed anything through the tube as I'm short one more hand. But it is still a good heavy duty and heavy machine.

We talked about putting them into the DW before, and I think we decided that because they are otherwise a nuisance to clean, it is worth buying a new bowl from time to time.

And I guess it's time for me.

Go for the full size--you won't be sorry! I just upgraded from 11 to a 14 cup Cuisinart.

Don't be intimidated to join--I went from lurker to commenter eventually--just jump in! smileys/smile.gif

Someone I work with just scored a 7 cup in Bed Bath. maybe in stock just for the holidays??

if you get uneven chop you are either putting too much in to chop at once or your pieces are too big

Also if you chop two unlike things (i.e. mushrooms and onions) at the same time you might find uneven chop. In that case chop the hard stuff half way then add the soft stuff.
