Frances Johnson's 100 Year Old Sugar Cookie Recipe Wins Second Place at Minnesota State ...

Off topic, but Carol, I have a question at above post regarding the Santa Fe Corn Chowder. Thanks!

I got it from someone who called it Sugar Gems smileys/smile.gif

I've done it as drop cookies, and as slice and bakes. Super crisp and light, but the amount of oil makes me uneasy, so I usually cut it down a bit. (Oil in a cookie just sounds weird, and it makes me feel guilty, for some reason smileys/smile.gif

It's really cute when you roll it up into logs for icebox cookies. Once it's chilled, roll the log in colored sugar for a pretty rim. It's nice when you have a variety of colors (some logs in red, some in green, etc.)

I've seen it call Amish Sugar cookies, too.
