Job Title: Gourmet Chef - Television Reporter - On-air Talent

Location *: india

Dates: January 3-7

Company *: Cruising Gourmet Television

Job Description: Cruising Gourmet (www.CruisingGourmet.com) is seeking a talented/articulate host or hostess with expert gourmet cooking knowledge for a 5 day/4 night cruise (January 3-7) sailing Guwahati-Guwahati, plus maybe one night at lodge at Kaziranga National Park. This is an "unscripted" format which requires the air talent being articulate and creative. We cannot pay a fee, but will provide all related expenses, including meals provided on the boat, cruise provided scenic tours, and air transport from Delhi to Guwahati and back to Delhi. The ideal candidate must be a gourmet chef as well as writer and on-air reporter/talent who can banter/converse with the various chefs, etc while on camera. There will be a total of 4 x 30 minute shows produced which will be aired, internationally, including USA.

Hang on...I just reread it and am I right that you have to get yourself

to Delhi? From there expenses are paid? If that's the case....never mind.

 
You pay the ticket to and from Delhi. And then the work itself is unpaid. smileys/frown.gif

It's quite the opportunity for someone with deep pockets, but (to my ears) it sounds like the chef is too cheap to pay for someone doing what sounds like an awful lot of work.

It's a professional-level gig, and should be paid as such.

Marketing yourself as an on-air talent, not for the money

This is definitely not a financial gig but a shot at establishing yourself internationally as "the next great on-air chef".

The venture can be evaluated by comparing it to the do-it-yourself costs of creating a series of shows (scripting, producing, filming, editing, distributing, etc.) in an international (hot!) setting, as part of a recognized program, filling-in for an established host - all potentially very expensive to replicate on your own. That sounds like fun but I'm not confident in front of the camera!!!

And, frankly, I'm a tad too fluffy to be on camera, but I'm working on that. Thanks for thinking of me though. I wonder how much a ticket to India costs? Haven't done public speaking since I worked at the bank.

I did receive a little video camera as a very belated birthday present, called a FlipVideo. It's a lot of fun! I did a little video on my blog of my friend Anna cooking those wonderful chicken cutlets.
