FRC: Interesting take on what this economic funk could possibly do to mom and pop...

WHAT you mean there are no elves??? .... Seriously... : ) Next you are going to tell me

there is not a kool aid kid... (Didn't he smash through a bowling alley....yrs ago, maybe that was what caused his demise)

Too much to handle!

We know two families that rarely cook. They eat out up to three times a day. OG is one...

...of their favorites.

Toeachhisown!

I couldn't deal with it,

Michael

My Italian father loves OG. Go figure. I think he considers it a bargain because they keep bringing

those gawdawful breadsticks. He's a depression-era cheapo.

I actually got hired there once, in my late twenties. I was desperate for a job and they were opening a new store in Torrance. The interview consisted of three managers explaining to me the "concept of HOSPITALIANO." They didn't ask any questions because they were hiring everyone who walked in anyway. The first part of orientation was learning the "hospitaliano" theme song. It was scary, like joining a cult.

Fortunately, that was as far as it went. I ended up being saved from a career in breadsticks by being hired at TGIFridays next door, another horrible chain. What a nightmare--I could write a book about that place!

Ahhhh, to be self-employed and to dine at Mom-and Pops!

ahhahaha about "cults". I stopped at the new Target the other morning and they were having a group

morning pep rally. It was just a bit creepy, and I really didn't want to hear about their target sales for the day etc.

If you want creepy, just go into a Brighton's jewelry store....

Their people are trained to behave as your VERY BEST FRIEND, and are taught that women spend more when shopping with a "girlfriend". They stick to you like glue, ignoring the subtle rules of personal space. I'm a very patient person and I almost decked one lady... I actually walked forward into her so she had to back up. Then I put the earrings down and walked out.

And I thought it was just the one salesperson who stuck to me like glue!

There's a new store, so I walked in to see what it was about. I, too, was uncomfortable with the shadowing salesperson. but thought it was just that one.

Guess I won't be shopping there!

White House | Black Market is kinda like that too, with the "girlfriend" concept, but they're not as clingy. They just keep bringing you things into the dressing room smileys/smile.gif

For some reason, that doesn't bother me so much. They've actually found stuff that I like, in the sizes I need smileys/smile.gif

It's just creepy to have someone, literally, right on your elbow... HATE the 'girlfriend' concept!
