FRC We are just cheap in these parts, I guess!

That's so rude of people! I overheard someone say at a craft fair once, right in

front of the person selling it, "Oh, I don't need any more junk"!!! The pieces in your picture are beautiful, Judy. Just consider the source!

Dawn, I do indeed...

I'm not so sure I'd sell my pieces so those poeple anyway. I'd rather they be used and appreciated.

I am putting on a craft show at my son's school and am worried about the turnout.

I went to one yesterday at another elementary school and will be having nightmares about it until our show is over. We thought about having a bake sale but decided instead to sell treats at the same place we will be selling food. The principle was a little iffy about having people bake things because of the health risk, so I figured this was a good way around it. I am just going to have a few people that I know will do a good job make some baked goods to sell.

Can you tell me what baked goods have sold the best? Ours will be individual servings. Thanks!

Well, I appreciate you, Judy! I got my salt pig yesterday and it is gorgeous!!

Just try and get that at Wal-mart. Extremely fair price, too. I've looked at others out there.

Yesterday, the pumpkin loaves were swooped up (large-size pan) and

also 2 apple pies. Unique items like coffee cake muffins, carrot cake pieces on real plates from the thrift store, and brownies if they are wrapped individually.

Cupcakes generally do not sell well, and we always have bags of cookies at the end that we pretty much give away at the end. Cookie pops, eyeball brownies, anything the least bit creepy looking (even though it's a Halloween bake sale - go figure!).

Good luck... you'll do fine if the people know they're being made by good bakers and if they're priced low.

Glad to hear it arrived and you like it.

I was skeptical about the color combo, but it came out really nice!

Yes. It was very simple, just two ingredients...

...Duncan, and Hines. lol

I was rushed for time (went to the Stevie Wonder concert unexpectedly the night before) so I made it when I came home at 1am, and frosted it early the next a.m.

And if you don't want $38 dollar's worth of orange cake mix ;o) you can

just add orange juice (or I added orange extract) and a few drops of yellow and red food coloring to a yellow cake mix.

I made a pair of socks for someone recently and they asked me how much the yarn cost ($20 average)

and they said, wow, I can get 6 pairs of socks from WalMart for $5 or something like that.

So then I looked them in the eye and said, "Not these socks you can't. The wool was grown ___ and hand sheared. Then it was spun into yarn by hand and dyed to make the perfect little stripes on the sock. Then I spent at least two weeks knitting them and thinking about you every stitch, and how much fun the yarn is and how much you will enjoy wearing them." I asked them to try on the socks and he admitted they fit perfectly and felt great. I hear from his spouse that he wears them all of the time and if they are in the laundry he whines, you mean I can't wear them now?

Small bit of triumph there but I'm not very inclined to make the investment and time to make him anything else!

Funny how people are about handmade things. So many products out there are artificially cheap. However, being "funemployed" I sure don't mind getting a bargain these days.

Hope your next bake sale goes better!

I appreciate, admire and envy the creative people of this world. The

first time I was in Chiang-Mai, Thailand I watched them make umbrellas. Rice paper umbrellas. From the pounding the rice pulp to the painting of the finished umbrella. Awe inspiring and yes, I felt guilty for what I paid for the finished umbrella I bought.

Judy, you're more evolved than I. I would have to tell them, "No, you couldn't."

I still bristle at things people said when we had the retail store. I used to correct them in a pleasant tone and they'd look at me like I had three heads. You mean the customer isn't always right?!
