Friday Five....

Weekend six....

It actually starts on Friday - my friend finally rescheduled his birthday party, it was a potluck, and he requested my chocolate chip candied bacon cookies! So, I cooked the pig candy Friday night. It was hard to sleep with that aroma in the Roost...

Saturday I got up early and baked them off, and "accidently" broke one and ate it for breakfast. yum..

The party was fun, another friend made a great lasagne but rolled up the noodles instead of layering them. So tasty! I want to do that with eggplant.

We drank way too much wine, including a '95 Handlery Hillside Select, in an elegant decanter my friend brought back from Vienna. Wow. We kept jockeying around the decanter for refills!

Last night, at home, Nic (Vavroom here) shared with me his baked eggs in cocotte recipe, so I made it for breakfast just now. So good!! I used ham left over from the party, and added green chiles. His site is so pretty, Mimi designed it... (see link)

Oh yeah, Saturday, my order of green chiles arrived, I now have 4 pounds in the freezer! it's chile madness!

NFR, I'm working on a really pretty sweater for myself, just finished the first armhole and halfway through the body!

Later today I'm meeting a friend for a bit of the hair of the dog. I'm bringing the rest of the cookies. She's bringing butterscotch scones and gf oatmeal cookies. So I guess that's what we are having for dinner! LOL

Hope you have a great weekend...

Thx heather for the tip on the egg recipe....((Uses Ramekins!!)) I will give it a shot

edited to add, like Vavroom's site....Nicely done Mimi!

One of DH's favorite breakfasts... I also do a spinach layer in the bottom

You defrost and sqeeze dried a frozen package of chopped spinach, then mix a little garlic with it. Press into the bottom of ramekins. Break an egg into each one. Float a little cream on top, salt/pepper, and a good sprinkling of parmesan.
Bake until they are as done as you like.

Grackels? Lucky you! Hope you can get some 'cause here's a family fav, REC: Grackle in Esabeche

Okay, actually there is no recipe but I just LOVE typing "Grackle" and especially "escabeche."

Move along smartly now, nothing to see here.

Look wonderful -- question about the "image"

That is, in the Image posted above. What IS the cut leafy plant to the left of the jar in the photo? hmmmmm???

do mean in the other photo with the Moroccan Lemons? It was given to me by

a friend for Chinese New Years. She said it was a "Money Plant" but she wasn't sure it actually was. It has about five plants braided together.

Aren't these cute?

Not that I would pay $25 for 6 of them (would anyone?!!!) but it's a cute idea, easy to make for Easter. From Shari's Berries.
