I lost internet access last Wednesday and finally got out of the house on Friday. This is a town where an inch of snow will shut the city down. Friday, I scraped a foot of snow off my car! I got gas, and stocked up at the grocery store. Warnings of multiple major snowstorms had lines 10 or more people deep at the grocery store (backed up all the way to the rear of the supermarket at 3:30 in the afternoon!) I loaded up on soup fixings and baking ingredients and hoped for the best.

Snow, snow, and more snow and little equipment to deal with it. My condo is in the suburbs at the top of a steep hairpin turn. We weren't going anywhere. I thought I'd make a break for it after being snowed in since last Friday, and then watched as a neighbor failed to navigate his car into a parking spot. Dejected, I went back inside.

It looks like the weather is warming up tomorrow and I'll be able to finally get out for the first time since last Friday. YAY! And thankfully, it looks like I've got internet access back...at least for a while.

Just got through watching the Myth Busters test out the cabin fever theory. Guess you can probably attest to that one right now.

I wouldn't have thought snow would paralyze you all like it does us here in Nashville.

 
We only had real snow one winter when we lived in Bremerton.

It was a nightmare! Cars were literally abandoned all over the highways and roads. Kind of like here last week when we got a foot in our corner of the desert (2 feet a few miles away) and we learned that 'neither snow nor sleet nor dark of night' really doesn't apply to the post office, UPS or FedEx.

And God bless all the workers that work hard to get everyone back up and running after one of Mother Nature's power trips.

 
Immobilized is more like it...the thing is the hills and since

it's typically 45 degrees, snow doesn't last very long. Last week we saw temperatures dip into the 20's and it stayed.

Now the big worry is how slowly will it melt? I'm all for a quick melt, but since flooding and landslides are serious concerns...it should be interesting to see what happens.

Friends of mine opened their new restuarant in the city last week. Lack of deliveries kept them on a limited menu over the weekend and I'm sure they haven't received anything since. I'm sure they had to get very creative with the menu--especially the last couple days.

You did the smart thing...prepare and wait it out. It may not make for prime happiness, but oh, what a tale you'll have for another year! Glad you're OK..most important part!
