Has anyone finalized their Thanksgiving menu? I need some inspiration....TIA

My FIL has always done the cooking for his family.

My husband helps my FIL because I do the cooking for us during the year. My MIL doesn't cook at all; my mother is a fabulous cook and is always somewhat miserable with nothing to do in the kitchen. I'd rather cook, too, because I hate doing the dishes. My dad doesn't cook, but he does provide all the wine.

This doesn't hold true for Christmas dinner. For that, my mother and I have always done all the cooking.

Richard! Are those the Killer Potatoes you posted a few years back with the caramelized onions

in them? If so, I made that recipe for my family at Christmas around 3 years ago, and they went nuts about how good that potato dish was! I'm very behind in posting a big "THANK YOU" to you so I can finally consider that debt as being paid. Those potatoes were the BEST! I am pretty sure I printed off the recipe from the old Gail's site.

My husband and I are going down to my parents for Thanksgiving.

Mom felt that she wants us to visit sooner rather than later. I'm not sure what kind of meal we'll have, but at least we'll be with them.

I baked this pie! I was very happy with the crust. It was a lovely golden color at 350

I thought it tasted best the first day. It cut great and there wasn't any soupy juice sitting in the pan. The next day, a little watery.

I didn't use enough flour in the sweet pie dough so it was hard to pick up after I folded and it tore. A little patching and we were good.

I used Northern Spy apples which really hold their shape. I could've made the slices a little thinner

Very good pie the first day.

Neige , , , check it out. Got mine at Bevmo.

NEIGE - The only “snow” that warms up…
“Who would have believed that one day cider could compete with grand dessert wines?”
Bruno Quenioux, Head Sommelier, Lafayette Gourmet, Paris.

Produced since 1994, Neige apple ice wine is produced through natural cryoconcentration. Offering the perfect balance of sugar and acidity, Neige is characterized by a rich amber color and a distinctive fresh apple flavor with a vanilla finish.

Although ready for immediate consumption, Neige can be aged and savored for several years. Served cold (6°C), it is a perfect aperitif or accompaniment to cheeses with a slightly nutty flavor.

Sugar at harvest: 360 g/l
Residual sugar: 150 g/l
12% alc./vol.

Can you freeze mince pie? I don't know anyone who likes it and

I really can't eat a whole pie myself. Well, I could but I shouldn't.
