I assume thatbthe liquid ( water?) evaporated .

Any suggestions on how to make it liquid again?

Yes, its stuck in a narrow necked bottle .

I think I'd toss it.

I know I've never had that happen--and it must be because the bottle was open for evaporation. Can't see how it could be good for use//taste. ;o(

Poke a hole with a chop stick and pour it into a pot. Add liquid and boil. I reduce my cheap

balsamic vinegars to a thicker syrup and have been very happy with the result for squeezing over Brussels sprouts, etc.

Obviously, check for nastiness when it comes out and ditch if necessary.

I think that is a really good observation!! And it would be like money in the bank

to make more vinegar from wine!!
Sort of gelatinous.

thanks, before i saw this , I added a little white (more)

balsalmic vinegar which floated on top and then poked the solid mass.
Eureka , there was only a solid top and the vinegar has reconstituted perfectly.
