Help! My hubby has invited his staff for a BBQ/Pool party and I

Normally it should be hot, but it has been unseasonably cold

in the mid 70's and overcast with the sun barely poking through.

 
Sounds wonderful to me. I definitely know I'm too old for any more 4 am nights

Perhaps for a little while, like if you make it the same day as the party, the flan layer

might droop overmuch without the fridge...

 
Heather, this sounds delish! Does the cajeta make it difficult to get out of the pan or

is it absorbed into the cake batter? I love the idea of this cake. Can't wait to make it!

 
The "miracle" of this cake is that it forms a flan layer on the top and a rich cake underneath when

you unmold it. I don't know how it works. I don't care. It's a MIRACLE! and it doesn't stick or anything.

You know how people say, Oh I couldn't possibly have dessert, or It's too rich looking, or I'll just have a tiny slice. Well, after one bite somehow all that chatter just stops and the cake disappears.... heh heh heh.

 
I don't normally use cake mix, but this cake is calling to me for July 4 party at my house!
