Help! Need advice on that pretty little cake at SprinkleBakes...

I love math so much I married a mathematician.

Well, no. I married him to make up for my appalling lack of math skills. Hopefully our kids will be math whizzes who can quote Wordsworth. (Not likely, I know.)

You never know.

I produced an artist and poet who is heavily into Java, Ubuntu and Linux. It's the art bit that surprises me!

Thank you all for your help...it was quite a success! I ended up doing

a 12" round for the base and 6" round on top. Three recipes of the cake mix made both the rounds plus a dozen cupcakes. One recipe of the swiss meringue buttercream frosting was enough to frost both round cakes and fill the 6". I ended up leaving the 12" un-layered (is that a word?!). It was all very yummy and everyone loved the color combination, less-sweet frosting (which is something I love about the Swiss meringue), and cherry-vanilla cake. Nice change from the usual yellow or chocolate cake. Although...I'd like to try this with a nice chocolate ganache frosting smileys/smile.gif
