Help? Need side dish ideas. Asian-focused.

One of my dearest friends is coming to the US and we'll have a whole day to hang out, visit the markets, and cook. In plotting the menu, two dishes are on the must try list--one favorite (Korean Chicken Wings on the Saveur site) and a new one, dumplings in a chili sauce from Serious Eats.

I want to serve a vegetable dish of some sort as a palate cleanser, and relief from the assertive flavors of the other two dishes. Any thoughts?
