Help with a first time event....

I've stopped worrying about pesto on my teeth. It's the spots on my shirt that are embarrassing

Bizarre! I like pesto with almonds or walnuts too--do those have the same potential reaction?

I think for a capressi garnish like this you could skip the nuts entirely, if you are making your own pesto.

Holy cow! Bought pine nuts at Wally World for my pesto, noticed that they came from CHINA!

Nibbled on them, no "Pine Mouth", but this is scary! Can we trust any of our food sources from now on???

Edamame Hummus on Cucumber Bits

thanks for all your input, folks!

I made a FANTASTIC edamame hummus (you can find the recipe here http://1tess.wordpress.com/2012/07/16/edamame-hummus/)

and used the advice from cheezz to assemble some low-carb, Atkin's friendly platter... I hope they will like it

a photo of my (early morning) production can be seen here

It was a great tip...

.... to make the slices thicker and hollow them - a bit of work with a tiny spoon, but once I got into it, it was quite Zen.

by the way, they all loved it! And guess what? The secretary at first didn't show up - poor thing, they told me she's been avoiding the potlucks since January in her quest to lose weight.

So I made a little platter with three of those babies and took to her office - she was SOOOOO happy, then she came to the party and thanked me for making something low carb

all in all, a very happy "first time" for me.

I'll try to keep this going every month, so I might bug you guys for more suggestions as the time comes

I've gone through several bags of Costco pinenuts in the couple of years since this became known.

No problems, but I've read accounts of Costco nuts associated with pine mouth.

I'm not sure it's product specific. CB ate the same thing I did and she DIDN'T experience that.

Maybe it has something to do with the interaction between unique pine-nuts and certain individuals. Like super-tasters or something? Curious though. It was remarkably unpleasant. (No comments, I can't help my chemical make-up . . . well, except for the ones I added on my own. Hmmmmmm.)

A grapefruit spoon could work too. Glad they were well received! Next month u can amp it up a bit!
