and had them slice it thn. When I got it home and looked at the sliced bread, it was crostini size. I hadn't planned on using it for that, so tonight I made mini grilled ham and cheese paninis. I bought one of the Lodge presses that there was a string about recently. Spread some grainy mustard on the breads, then ham and muenster cheese. Fried them in butter and used the press. They turned out great and using the asiago bread really enhanced the cheesiness. And they were so cute!

I have been buying two of the larger loaves of bread from Panera's and then splitting it with my stepdaughter. I end up with a large loaf of two different types of bread for about $5.00. And they are really large loaves. One slice of bread makes a sandwich. I tried my hand at making homemade for sandwiches, and slicing was a huge problem. I still make homemade pizza dough, French bread, bagels and such, but Panera's has bridged the gap for sandwich bread for us.

...and their whole wheat is our favorite. We get it sliced, ask for some butter pats, toast a few

slices there and enjoy crunchy toast with our coffee. We feel so saintlike for avoiding their pastries that we end up going out for dessert later on.

Their pastries look so good. I am especially drawn to their shortbread cookie,

but have as yet given in to urge. I do like to get their chicken noodle soup with whole grain demi.
