I finally made these and they're very good! Espresso-Chocolate Shortbread Cookies- I liked them best

Ok, Meryl... NOT a good way to start off the new year... you should have spread chocolate on them!

Ha! Ya know, I was going to dip them into bittersweet chocolate, but I was too tired. Anyway, I made

up for it with the Mexican Chocolate Icebox Cake I made last night for New Year's. Fantastic as always. So there!

And, my dear, I noticed *you* were pretty remiss in making chocolate cookies for Christmas - I saw

mostly non-chocolate ones on your list - I'm starting to have my doubts about you. smileys/smile.gif

I've GOT to add that icebox cake to my list... I actually had non-chocolate cookies this year smileys/smile.gif

I must remedy that situation next year (although I had no complaints).

I ended up making
double chocolate biscotti (which I dipped in chocolate)
chex mix
decorated sugar cookies
cranberry bliss bars
congo bars
fudge
mini cherry pecan loaves
turtles

so... 4 out of 8 had chocolate!!

I've always told my friends I'm going to give an ALL-chocolate tea... I should do that this year!

My eating season is OVER... salads from now to June smileys/smile.gif And yes, you're on the tea invite!

Sadly true for me as well.

I'm not telling how much I have to lose, but suffice it to say, it's a lot. I will have to restrict my chocolate intake to very small portions of very good chocolate.

As long as you don't go through "cold turkey" (no pun intended). That would be devastating! smileys/smile.gif

Hmmm, not quite cold turkey, but close. Where did they ever come up with that expression anyway???

from Wikipedia...

The etymology derives from the phrase talk turkey, in which someone deals matter-of-factly with a subject. Some, however, believe the derivation is from the comparison of a cold turkey carcass and the state of a withdrawing addict — most notably, the cold sweats and goose bumps. It is often preceded by the verb "to go," as in "going cold turkey." Yet another suggestion of origin is that cold turkey is a dish that needs little or no preparation. "To quit like cold turkey" would be to quit in the same way a cold turkey is served, instantly just as you are without preparation.
