I heard on the radio this morning about some food products and other things

that are on their way out and will, sometime in the future, be taken off shelves:

processed cheeses

concentrated frozen fruit juices

bars of soap

powdered detergent

were a few mentioned

Reporter said this is not in the immediate future, but slowly these things will go away. Some stores are already reducing their stock of some of these items.

Food wars

Really sorry to hear that frozen juice concentrates are being taken from us. The chemical crap in a bottle called fresh is something we do not touch in this house. Think about it: oranges are a seasonal crop harvested once per year. "Fresh Orange Juice" in the refrigerator case? Ick. not so fresh.

Frozen Concentrate is so much better than "Fresh!" unless you're doing the squeezing.

That upsets me--all liquid soap comes in a plastic bottle, which will either last forever

in a landfill or the ocean, or be recycled in a very toxic process. A bar of soap, wrapped in paper, is much more environmentally friendly.

I have not used bar soaps in years. Always use liquid body shampoos now with a sea sponge

It only takes about 2 to 3 drops to totally lather up a nice foam on the sponge. My hubby still uses bar soaps and there is always a skinny little chunk in his soap dish. Drives me crazy. The pump soap dispensers at the sink are much more sanitary. I hate using the same soap bar everyone else is using to wash my hands at others homes. Never use bacterial soaps either. But I do keep hand sanitizer in my car and at home for those months when flu and colds are rampant.
