I just love our group!

Tonight I looked on my grand niece’s registry, and pretty much everything had been snapped up. Pretty much the only thing left was a colander and a trifle bowl. Eek! And I needed a wedding and shower gift!

So thinking, how can I turn this into something personal, I thought of the swap. Just spent the evening scouring the swap to find trifle recipes. I found several to add to mine, and I have her great grandma’s English trifle recipe I can add into a small personal recipe book to go with the bowl for her shower gift! Thank you all!

Btw, since I also hunted down photos of the desserts elsewhere, I added a photo to the old posts when I could. (These recipes all have photos now - and a few more, these are just the trifles).

(New to me: I’ve seen/heard of putting an add money for our honeymoon fund on the registry 😩, but a first for me was seeing both that AND pay for side trips while on honeymoon: a gondola ride in Venice, a Lake Como and Switzerland side trip, a pasta making class in Florence, etc. Kids these days! So, with a colander or leftovers bowl for the fridge as the only tangible options left, they got a sightseeing tour of Rome from auntie, but every etiquette rule that I grew up with was unhappy about it. Which also makes me feel like living in the past grumpy Violet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham on Downton Abbey, lol.)IMG_4069.jpegIMG_4071.jpegIMG_4072.jpeg

I am AMAZED at your sleuthing skills to find these old posts. All I find are the 404s. LOL. What a beautiful idea to bundle as a book. You might be able to find a discounted deal on Shutterfly for bound books. Just upload the photos and they take care of the rest. I'm with you on the "experience" gift. But you never know, my nephew and new wife said their cooking class experience in Florence (courtesy of my SIL, via registry) was a highlight of their trip. I'm currently grappling with another registry that has 6 items on it, 4 already taken, and then the "honeymoon fund" is all that's left. I guess these days, when they live together for years, they have most of what they need. OR what they think they need. Every time I ask the newlyweds if they have a kitchen scale, the answer is no. Voila, housewarming gift. Good luck!

The trick is to search by the name instead of using the old dead links. So search for Peanut Butter Fudge Brownie Trifle, instead of following links inside posts, till you find the original post with the actual recipe. It’s does take some digging, but if you know the name you can usually find it. I started with searching on “trifle”, then worked backwards to find which posts had the actual recipes vs a link to an older post..

Most of the side trips were all more than I wanted to spend $500+, but to their credit was set up as a group gift you could contribute to partially, but as a family member wanted to do a single gift from me. I guess this might make people feel more included in their honeymoon experience rather than just giving to the honeymoon fund itself. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, I immediately clutched my old lady pearls reading the registry, said the woman who owns more than one etiquette book.

Remember when you couldn’t wear black to a wedding? I remember the first time someone did, and the entire room gasped when she walked in.
