I love good Cuban food. I mean I really love good Cuban food. I

I hate Sawgrass...LOL And I know I'm the only one saying that but I detest

malls. And what's the most funny is my husband loves going. Anyway, it's obvious that I should have been more vocal about where I lived since so many come here. I live a few minutes from the mall. I have a lovely pool, screen-room on a beautiful waterway. We could have a great lunch so anyone in my area, please contact me and I'll do my best to make arrangements to get together.

A little orange juice to the covered pan keeps them from sticking. I like the cinnamon too!

I had a cook in the Dominican Republic who used to prepare the "maduros" that way. Delicious!!!

I'm with you I detest malls, I just focus on the stores I want to shop in...

no malls in NYC!

Well, as delicious as that sounds, it's not the true Cuban way they are

prepared. They are fried in a little oil and they don't stick. The natural sweetness of the very ripe plantain comes through and is a wonderful accompaniment to the rice and beans. Orange juice and cinnamon sound like a great dessert.

I've never thought about tasting cinnamon because I like.. My husb. says he notices it just a bit.

I really enjoy just a bit of lemon juice and cinnamon cooked in butter or coconut oil. yum

Oh, yes there are malls in NYC! I was a little horrified near Penn Station once when I wandered into

one -- about 6 stories of Claire's and the like! Couldn't remember where I came in or how to get out. AARRGGHH!! (just go outside anywhere and hail a cab!)

Nothing in NYC compares to a full scale suburban Mall!

Not sure what 'mall' you wandered into but I'm not going to look and find out!!!! Next time go to The Time Warner Building...enclosed shopping with class and a great Whole Foods.

42nd Street has turned into one big strip mall... a Disney sponsored one...

I find it really sad that Manhattan has turned almost into anytown USA -

Used to be that you had to be a little nervous and your adrenaline rushed as you walked on 42nd Street, gone are the adult theaters and seedy shops, now you have The Lion King, the Disney Store, American Girl, chain clothing and shoe shops, Friday's, The Olive Garden.. the list goes on...

The line in the song goes
"If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere" welll, now any kid with a few bucks will be fine, just fine!

Now, what were we talking about before I had my little outburst?? smileys/wink.gif

or Red Lobster or Hooters, or any of the myriad chains that now invade Times Square...

I mean, they have their place, but not 10 blocks away form Per Se, really!

Oh don't even get me started on that...

I blame Giuliani for starting all of this, no street vendors in central areas, barriers so you cannot jaywalk, tickets for jaywalking... the list is endless...

It's not the real NYC anymore...
