I made a very good and new (to me) gravy for beef last night. REC inside

Mix equal portions of beef drippings, prepared strong coffee, and ketchup. It sounds awful, but is very good - and seems to be more complex than either ketchup or coffee alone, somehow. Great with hamburg and garlic mashed potatoes.

Hey, is this similar to what red-eye gravy is?? No I think that's made with ham drippings. Anyway, this is good and tart. Perks up regualr old hamburg.

You're right - red eye gravy is made from ham drippings and coffee. My mom always made her beef gravy iwth the drippings and ketchup. I'll have to try it sometime with the coffee also. Thanks!
