I now own 1/50th of a Jersey cow...

Yeah ... a splurge but worth it. We get a box once maybe twice a year but

it keeps us happy for a long while. We usually have some friends in for a long cheese-tasting afternoon, and there's lots left over for the two of us. I can't remember whether the weight is always the same from month to month. Probably depends on the cheeses. That includes shipping, BTW.

A number of the specialty cheese shops, like Alex's and La Fromagerie (College and Ossington) sell raw-milk and/or unpasteurized (there's some technical difference) cheeses, esp. from Quebec and France. But again, not cheap.

The DeLonghi gets impressive reviews on Amazon, better than the Viking which

is what I was leaning towards before Cuisinart came out with theirs. Chef and baker acquaintances swear by their old Kenmores, and I see that DeLonghi bought out Kenmore. I'll have to have a closer look.

I do, I do!

I have the old Sunbeam my mom had when I was a child and I am 67! That tough old Sunbeam used to make the Tom and Jerry Batter every Christmas that our family and friends loved. That batter was so thick, the Sunbeam had to work hard.
I like it better than my Kitchen Aid because it has room to dump ingredients into the bowl, easily. I retired it, but it still works great. I keep it polished. I love the big glass mixing bowl.

My KA mixer is about five years old. It started leaking oil into the paddle

and bowl while just sitting. I took it in for repairs and the oil seal had broken. My mom's old Sunbeam, at least 60 years old is still truckin! No repairs.

The original Sunbeam Mixmaster was great. Bought a Sunbeam about 10 years ago, and it was terrible.

The worst piece of trash ever - could barely turn. I thought it was a lemon, so I got one of the parts replaced - same problem. I looked up the ratings and reviews (which I should have done in the first place, but didn't have a computer at the time), and everyone had the same problem. I replaced it with a KitchenAid Artisan stand mixer, which works great.

Sounds like a great arrangement. I'd love to do that for cheese making purposes. I've dabbled

a bit and I could really get the bug for it. Need a trusty cow though. smileys/smile.gif
