yes! down at the river. picture of the first raised bed he made. planted with spinach, kale, broccoli
cabbage, cauliflower, squash, green beans, sugarsnap peas. just a few of each. we have harvested the spinach, kale, cauliflower, broccoli so far and the sugar snaps will be ready soon. this picture is in early summer.
Bill brought his cousin, the bricklayer, up this summer and finishe the other 2 beds.now painted
brown too and filled with dirt/manure, ready for a winter sleep. we'll plant all 3 beds next spring. it's a little confusing, but there is an aisle right next to the left original bed, then a garden bed, then another aisle and another garden bed on the very right, with a bed all along the back side. with the dirt in it now it's not confusing, but of course I didn't take a picture yet. bonus plantings in the block holes! herbs and viney things and flowers! we found square plastic pots that fit in because we don't want dirt/water to remain in those holes for the winter and freeze/crack. Bill bought cedar planks to cover them for the winter---and pet worms too.
Aw, Joe, you have reminded me of my aunt Clarice! She & I would go out every spring and
we would dig dandelion greens--she would wilt & freeze them. I was just 10 or 12 years old. They were really good, and I haven't gathered any in years.
