It's one of the side benefits of a community garden. People meet their neighbors. It's a big city,
and human nature being what it is, we tend to stay with our own ethnicity, family, income level etc. and not reach out. The gardens put a real cross-section of folks together and they get to know each other, learn other cuisines and cultures That can produce a few challenges too but it is worth it.
At our smallest garden, which is reserved for senior citizens, there are 12 plots and 6 languages.
