If I can lupini beans, do I have to use a pressure canner?

And that's a different thing from a pressure cooker, right? If I water-bath can them, can I keep them in the fridge? I have this huge jar of them on my kitchen counter, and it's a nuisance to keep on changing the water. If I keep them in the fridge in a bowl, they hide in the back, I forget to rinse them occasionally and they spoil. So I am hoping that I can just water-bath can them, and have them when needed. Any suggestions?

If you want to them...

they should be pressure canned.
That is different from a pressure cooker.

Canning non-acid foods requires pressure to kill the nasty pathogens lurking in fresh foods.

You can freeze as an alternative to canning.

I wouldn't freeze beans. They'll break down and separate something fierce, turning nearly inedible.

I'll bet you COULD par boil them, throw 'em in a mason jar and do a water bath to seal. That should keep 'em awhile.
