I'm having a potluck on Monday and the theme is - bring a dish that has meaning to you.

What an experience. Some things never enter our consciousness because

we have no point of reference in our own lives.

Hmm, that will take some thought. Maybe cinnamon buns? No reason, except that I used to

(a cinnamon bun RING, that is) love to watch my mother cut - with a pair of sissors - the dough and flip the cut parts so they would lay flat on the cookie sheet. And then when they were done, she'd drizzle a confectioner's glaze over them. How much better could it get for a 10-year-old?!

Did you flip them to lie flat? I always thought that quick flipping/twisting motion

was so cool!

I watched the video, slightly different, they were all turned one direction and slightly overlapped.

My late mother's stuffed cabbage (Halupki), because the taste and smell bring her memory back to me.

Ok, Seriously, I think I would ask if my FIL could "crash" the party and we would bring Hungarian

Pancakes and all the stuffings....I am thinking a crepe bar would be fun....We always enjoy them here!
Thanks for the invite!!

Marianne, was your mom's Halupki made with gr. beef, rice and sauerkraut?

A very good friend taught me to make it. I love those cabbage rolls and when I do make it, I eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner. For me, they are addictive.

Hmmm...cooked rice, sauted onion, gr. beef, sausage mixed together

and rolled in cabbage leaves. Layer of drained sauerkraut and tomato sauce in the bottom of the pot. All the cabbage rolls and topped with kraut and tomato sauce. When I was in my 20's my friend taught me how to make these. She said they were "Pigs in a Blanket". Is this the same? I just made a pot of them last week.

My mom used to make stuffed cabbage, with condensed tomato soup on top. I trust yours is something

far more authentic? Gosh, I haven't had stuffed cabbage in YEARS. Craving it now. Thanks!

That's it Marg! Palacsinta. I would describe as a lil thicker than a traditional crepe. Very good

I often ask FIL to make them and I set up a Palacsinta "Bar" to roll them up with jams, a walnut/sugar stuffing, berries, chocolate, etc...

My MIL will be serving them on Easter as an appetizer filled with a grated ham stuffing.
